Byron Chard

Byron Chard is President & CEO of Chard, where he leads the company’s long-term vision, growth, and operations. Since becoming President & CEO in 2019, he has guided Chard’s expansion beyond market condominiums to include purpose-built rental, affordable home ownership, commercial, and hospitality developments across Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria.

To date, Chard has delivered more than 2,500 homes, with over 2,300 additional homes in development or under construction, the majority of which are purpose-built rentals. Under Byron’s leadership, the company has expanded its asset management and property management platforms and now oversees the operation of nearly 2,000 rental homes.

Through strategic public and private partnerships, Chard continues to broaden the housing continuum across Vancouver and Victoria, supporting a diverse range of housing needs through below-market rental homes, affordable homeownership opportunities, housing for veterans and female-led families, and other community-focused initiatives. Chard’s growing portfolio also includes hospitality development, with the company currently delivering the first new hotel in Victoria in nearly 20 years.

An active industry leader, Byron sits on the UDI Executive Committee and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). He holds a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in British Columbia.

Byron’s leadership has been recognized with several industry honours, including Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 (2024), the UDI Maureen Enser Future Leader Award (2024), and Vancouver Magazine’s Power 50 (2025).
